How you got involved in your sport: :I began playing field hockey when I got to high school, following the footsteps of my old sister.
The moment you knew you wanted to represent Canada: :I always loved playing sports, loved watching other athletes on TV, and cheered my heart out for Canadian athletes. For as long as I can remember, I always got emotional while watching video montages of big sporting events (ie. Olympic Games, Stanley Cup Playoffs). But I never thought while growing up I would ever get the opportunity to represent Canada because I didn’t get to compete in organized sports until I was 15 years old, which was when I finally convinced my parents to let me play field hockey outside of school.
Favorite Quote: “It is easy to be negative about past mistakes and unhappiness. But it is much more healing to look at ourselves and our past in the light of experience, acceptance, and growth.”
CAN Fund Testimonial: CAN Fund gives me the flexibility to focus on my training so that my team and I can concentrate on reaching our on-field goals.
Best Result: 3rd place, Pan American Cup, Barbados, 2004
Fun Facts:I have a few superstitions….One I don’t like to step on the lines of the field. Two, I usually have a little thing with my water bottle that I do when I walk to my net at the beginning of the halves. However, when things don’t go well, so do my superstitions. I am known to throw a few tantrums behind the net more so during training than games.
