Name: Jason Burnett
Sport: Trampoline
Hometown: Nobelton, ON
Favorite Sports Memory: Squeaking into the finals, in 7th place, at the 2008 Olympic Games
How you got involved in your sport: : I started in gymnastics. At the end of every gym class the treat was to jump on the trampoline. I decided I liked the trampoline more than gym so my parents found a summer camp based around a trampoline gym. I joined their competitive program that fall.
The moment you knew you wanted to represent Canada: When I saw my teammates Mat Turgeon and Karen Cockburn jumping for the first time I knew I wanted to be Olympians just like them.
Favorite Quote: “Go big, or go home!”
CAN Fund Testimonial: The CAN Fund has been incredibly helpful and supportive throughout my career. Canadian sport is lucky to have the CAN Fund, and my athletic success wouldn’t be the same without it.
Best Result: Silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games
Fun Facts: In my spare time I like to practice parkour with friends. I have been a stunt double for Michael Cera in the movie “Scot Pilgrim vs. the World” and in a Sunny D commercial, and you can see these clips a video I made earlier this year (Jason Burnett Demo Reel 2011). I also broke my leg last July doing parkour and I put a video on YouTube with footage of my crash and my surgery (Jason Burnett breaks his leg). I have now successfully recovered and will be taking a break from these extra curricular activities while I prepare for the 2012 Games. I also study Religion and Philosophy at U of T.
