How does being a CAN Fund Recipient make a difference for you?
I recently had car troubles that would have put me in the hole BIG TIME financially but thanks to CAN Fund I was able to stay out of debt & continue on to keep my focus on my training without worrying how I would get the money to fix my vehicle. As a national team athlete who spends all my hours training and who makes very little money, budgeting for emergencies is very difficult so I feel very fortunate and blessed to have been selected as a recipient.

My Dad – Loyal, Loving, Successful
He is the reason why I am where I am today. He has given me values that have helped me stay true to myself in life and in sport. He also has always believed in me even when I didn’t.
What advice would you give to young kids or adolescents about following their dreams?
Expect to fail more than once and expect to want to walk away when things get tough. But most of all expect yourself to always rise in the end, because the moment you made that dream you committed yourself and it is your commitment that will keep driving your dream.
What is the biggest hurdle you have overcome to get to where you are today?
Breaking mental barriers in training.
What is or was the best part of representing Canada?
Having the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life just by sharing my story about my journey in becoming an Olympian.
What is next? What are your current goals?
To become a gold medalist with my teammates in Rio 2016.

What is your favourite recipe?
1 cup steel oats, 1 banana, 1 scoop whey vanilla protein, 300ml egg whites. Blend in blender all together, and then cook it in a pan. Makes about 3 pancakes depending on how big your pan is.
