Favourite Sports Memory: One of my favourite memories from the sport of Luge would have to be the week I got to compete in homologation at the Whistler Luge track in March 2011. I was lucky enough to be asked to test the track out with a few of the other Senior National athletes. I have to say it was one of the best weeks of sliding I have ever had, we just got the chance to slide on one of the best track in the world without the pressures of racing. I look back on the week and what I really remember is the happiness while sliding. That feeling has helped me through every season since then. I just remember when times get tough why I am really in the sport, not all for fame or money but for the joy you feel doing something you love.
How you got involved in your sport: With a love of sport, I found my way into the sport of luge while attending a ski show in Calgary in 2004 where the Canadian Luge Association set up a booth to introduce Canadians to the unique sliding sport. I hopped on the wheel sled and demonstrated the start on the travelling ramp…that was enough as I has been hooked ever since.
The moment you knew you wanted to represent Canada: The moment I knew I wanted to represent Canada would have to be while forerunning the Whistler Olympics. In those two runs I took down the track I got a taste of how it felt to have the friends, family, and fans of Canada cheer you on. I realized that the Games sometime in my career would be a possibility and with that the drive to represent Canada began!
