Favorite Sport Memory:
In my 2008-2009 season, I was working with Tom Patrick, sport psych with the Canadian Sport Centre and was practicing techniques to relax my thinking in competition and just go on feelings. I was competing in a heptathlon at the end of my season in Woerden, the Netherlands. After four years of training in the Netherlands, this was a sort of home meet for me and I was both familiar with my fellow competitors and the organizers of the meet. I was very relaxed heading into this meet, and for a whole competition I was able to stay focused, smile and just completely enjoy my sport and my abilities. I think back on this competition and the joy it brought me when I find myself struggling and know that I can get there again and know that this state of relaxation will bring out my greatest performances.
