CAN Fund is a not-for-profit organization created to fill a funding gap and give our Canadian athletes (summer, winter, able-bodied, and Paralympic) the financial support they need to train and compete for Canada. Where CAN Fund makes a significant impact is in the years leading up to the Games – the years when no one is watching, or cheering, or even aware of our athletes and their journey to be the best in the world. The majority of our athletes are paying for equipment, travel to competitions and training camps, coaching, proper nutrition, extra physiotherapy, and team fees that range from $1000 to $27,000. Since 2003, CAN Fund has raised over $40 million and supported 80% of the athletes representing Canada in Athens, 2004 to the recent PyeongChang, 2018 Games.

The successful candidate for the position of CAN Fund Event Coordinator will oversee, among other events, the exciting, new CAN Fund Pre-Game Meal campaign that is taking place in homes across Canada. CAN Fund has reinvented the charity dinner – your home, your friends. We invite the Canadian Olympians to attend.

The Event Coordinator must:

  • Communicate: The Event Coordinator will be in contact with each host, listening to their needs, and presenting ideas and solutions to their requirements. They also work with CAN Fund Athlete Relations Manager and with the CAN Fund designer, and other parties at the same time. Customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Remain Calm under Pressure: Many things are happening at once. The Event Coordinator must have the skills to remain calm and organized under the high pressure of many events in progress.
  • Be Extremely detailed and organized: Attention to detail is critical and being organized is an important and necessary skill.
  • Have Initiative: The Event Coordinator must have the initiative to develop ways to enhance the outreach and exposure of the Fund across Canada.


Education:  Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Additional experience in a fundraising environment and or marketing an asset.

Experience:  Event management experience in a work environment, preferably with one year of management experience.

Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Word Press considered an asset. Knowledge of social media platforms an asset. Excellent communication skills (oral and written); exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to represent the organization to external stakeholders, corporate partners and athletes. Forward thinking with the ability to forecast opportunities and integrate ideas related to various fundraising initiatives and athlete engagement strategies. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment of 3 to 4 colleagues.
