The moment you knew you wanted to represent Canada: From a young age, I had a passion for a variety of sports. My family is full of athletes from different sports. I always knew I wanted to excel and be the best at my sport. A particular moment in my life when I knew I wanted to represent Canada was when I met Kyle Shewfelt. I was in gymnastics at the time and he was preparing for the Athens Olympics. As I watched him win the gold medal on the television it was at that moment when I thought it was possible that I might one day represent Canada.

Favorite Quote: “Champions are made from something they have deep inside them- a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” – Muhammad Ail

Share one valuable tool that you use on a daily basis that helps you to be the best athlete you can be. I value Visualization as a tool. I feel it helps me relax and rehearse the proper technique prior to the execution of my jumps.

Who is one person in your life that has impacted your career and what was it that they taught you:

Lots of people have had a positive impact on my athletic career, but the one person that stands out the most was, my first coach Nikolay Petrov. He helped me develop a love for all Nordic sports; He presented me with opportunities to strive to be the best and continues to be source of inspiration.

Fun Facts I’m quite proficient at coming up with very bizarre things to talk about to kill the awkward silence in conversations. This one time at band camp… Oh wait, it was at the Calgary stampede, a random fellow bequeathed me with an inflatable hammer.
