On Aug. 30, the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation (lakesimcoefoundation. ca) held an exclusive cocktail party at Barry and Rena Tsur’s stately waterfront home. (1) Little Italy residents James McGowan, star of CBC’s “The Border” and his wife Alicia Selvi. (2) MP Peter Van Loan and event Host Barry Tsur. (3) Downtown west resident and actor Jeff Seymour, host Michelle Levy and NHL alumnus Rick Vaive.
On Sept. 9, the Canada-Israel Cultural Foundation hosted ISREELIZED, a star-studded TIFF party celebrating Israel’s film industry, at Toronto’s new hot spot Tryst Nightclub. (4) Filmmaker and guest of honour Robert Lantos, Chantal Kreviazuk (onetime Cabbagetown resident now based in L.A.) and Consul General Amir Gissin.
On Sept. 9, TIFF festivities continued at the ET Canada party at Casa Loma. (5) Downtown resident Monika Schnarre. (6) Television personality and interior designer Debbie Travis and Downtown resident Michael Seater (star of Life with Derek). (7) Actors Helene Joy and Downtowner Robin Brûlé.
On Sept. 9 and 16, the Canadian Athletes Now Fund (canadianathletesnow. ca) hosted “Gold Silver Bronze,” a benefit attended by Beijing athletes, medalists and coaches. The event was held at the Jane Roos Gallery on the Downtown east side and attendees were asked to make a minimum donation of $200. 2008 Olympic gold medal rowing coach Mike Spracklen and his wife Annie attended the Sept. 9 evening. All of the athletes are Canadian Athletes Now Fund Recipients.
