In Rugby, even when the clock reaches zero, play can continue if the team in possession of the ball keeps it alive. Nobody knows this better than the speedy Charity Williams. At the Paris Games facing a potential 12-0 deficit at the half in a high stakes semi-finals against the favored Austrailians and with the clock showing 0:00, Willams stunned with her speed running the length of the pitch and earning a try for Canada cutting the Australian lead to 12-7. A dramatic swing of momentum to enter the second half in a pivotal match that would see the determination and belief of the Canadians rally them advancing to the finals. Remarkably the Canadian squad went into the Paris Games ranked 9th in the world, and defied not only the odds but also the clock to win Olympic Silver – a Canadian best result.
